For Cut Flowers

After a flower has been cut from the plant, the stem starts to heal itself. Like a wound scabbing over.

If your flowers have been out of water for a bit, you’ll notice the end of the stems looking dry.

When this happens the stems ability to take in water is decreased.

In order for the flower to drink water, it’s important to trim & refresh the stems before placing them in a vase.

If you don’t have floral or garden snips you can use a scissor.

Cut off about a quarter of an inch from each stem right before you place them in water. You can always cut more if you prefer the flower to be shorter.

Changing the water every other day helps maintain a fresh and happy flower! Remove any leaves from the stems that will submerge under water. This prevents bacteria from forming & the water getting icky.

Sadly, flowers don’t last forever. The longevity of each variety is different. You can expect to have your dahlias for about 3-6 days with the proper care mentioned above. Despite their shorter vase life, the drama, beauty, and vibrant colors are well worth it! If one dies, remove the spent bloom and continue to enjoy the others. Apply these care tips to any flowers you bring home, no matter where you’ve gotten them, farmers market, grocery store, or as a gift!

for dried flowers

Enjoy the colors & textures of Summer blooms all year round!  Our wreaths & bouquets are made with flowers & foliage grown by Fortissimo & other local farms in our area. Dried blooms are best kept out of harsh environments & out of direct sunlight. Avoid keeping them in areas with high humidity and do not water or mist. Some natural shedding is normal & a small amount of shrinking/breakage is expected in shipping but should not affect the design..

Unlike fresh flowers dried bouquets should not be put in water! Use a clean, dry vase or vessel only. You can leave the stems long or cut them shorter to fit in a smaller vase.
